About the Tour de Wyoming

The Tour de Wyoming kicked off for the first time in 1997. Some 45 intrepid riders gathered in Powell, Wyoming for a six-day ride that went up and over the Bighorn Mountains and finishing up in Casper. It was initially an event of the Wyoming Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness and Sport. At that time Amber Travsky, who has been the Tour Director since it began, was Chairperson for the Council. After three Tours, Cycle Wyoming was formed as a 501c(3) non-profit to put on the Tour de Wyoming.

The Tour de Wyoming planning committee is comprised of volunteers, with most residing in Laramie or Cheyenne. The Tour de Wyoming and Cycle Wyoming are fully volunteer driven and have no paid staff. The goal of the Tour is to keep the costs minimal to make it inviting even to the first time rider.

Planning Committee

The Tour de Wyoming is made possible by the Tour Planning Committee. The group is 100% volunteer and many have given their time for 26 years to make the ride possible. Some of the names have changed through the years, but we keep on keeping on. Some of the members are shown, others are listed until photos become available.
