The Tour de Wyoming 2024 will be July 14 – 19, 2024

Entry fee is $300.

Optional meal plans are $115 to $240, depending on the number of meals.

 

 [/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I add a jersey or meal plan after I already registered?”]If you want to add to your registration after you’ve officially registered, just go to the “Store” button on the Race Roster site. You can add meals, a jersey, parking permit or Wyoming flag socks from that site.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations are allowed, minus a $50 cancellation fee, up to June 14 with the refund by mailed check.  There are NO REFUNDS after that date unless you purchase the extra insurance through Race Roster when you register.  Please don’t ask for an exception since this deadline applies no matter what the reason may be for the cancellation. There is the option to purchase separate cancellation insurance at the time of registration.

Entries are non-transferable.  We always have a significant wait list.

Long Term Parking

Free long term parking for the duration of the Tour will be available. Camping is available on July 13, but not at the end of the tour.

Headphones (and earbuds!) Rule

Headphones, ear buds and any device that impairs hearing are not allowed while cyclists are riding on the road. It creates a safety hazard not only for the rider but for those in the vicinity who might be trying to pass as well as for the motorist when the cyclist can’t hear them approaching.  The use of headphones and earbuds is prohibited on the Tour de Wyoming while riding.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How do I fly to the start of the Tour?” el_id=”1522630270422-dffc6cb3-7404″]There is an airport in Laramie. We will help shuttle from the airport with details coming in time for planning purposes.

E-bike Policy

Pedal assist (Class I or III) E-bikes are allowed on the Tour de Wyoming for those individuals who have a need based on age or a health condition. The focus on the Tour de Wyoming is getting from Point A to Point B under our own power. E-bikes are great way for all of us to keep pedaling as we get older and need a little assistance. Those who want to ride them for other reasons should find a different tour. All riders should be experienced in proper bicycle etiquette. Due to the weight of an e-bike, not all SAG vehicles will be able to provide assistance, should the need arise.

Rider Limit

Rest Stop Facilities

At our rest stops we have food, water and porta-potties.  Typical rest stop foods include fresh fruit, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, crackers, various types of cookies, and the ever-popular Salted Nut Rolls.

The types of food offered at the rest stops is standard from one rest stop to the next.  There is plenty of variety, but be prepared to make your own variety – select different items at each rest stop.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can friends or family tag along with the Tour in their own vehicle?” el_id=”1482962069883-8fc9e11b-15b1″]

Personal Support Vehicles

If you have family or friends coming along, driving your own support vehicle, that is fine but those parking at our facilities must purchase a parking pass for $50 and follow the personal support vehicle rules. Personal support vehicles that prefer hook-ups must make their own arrangements along the route.

Mechanical Support

Be sure your bike is tuned and ready to go BEFORE you come on the Tour. Do not bring your bike, expecting a tune-up from our bike mechanics. Bike mechanics will be available at our overnight locations. During the day, it is important that you are equipped to repair your own flats. Carry a tube, repair kit and pump on your bike. The mechanics are available for major repair at the end destination. Riding Bandits

Only those officially entered in the Tour de Wyoming are allowed at our rest stops. Please do not “shadow” the Tour if you don’t get in.  [/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What are the overnight facilities provided on the Tour de Wyoming?” el_id=”1482962295528-472aa0b4-bc12″]

Overnight Facilities

We have outdoor camping facilities at all locations. We have limited building facilities for indoor camping. Most of our indoor camping is actually in wedding-style tents. The only actual indoor camping is at the start in Laramie and in Baggs.

Young Riders

Participants under the age of 18 are required to have an adult accompany them on the ride. Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult ON THE ROAD at all times – an adult must be within sight distance. Children under the age of 14 must be on a tandem bike with an adult. Exceptions are allowed with permission of the Tour Director based on a young rider’s ability and experience.

Those participants who have family join them at the end of the day at our overnight locations, keep in mind that both indoor and outdoor camping situations are crowded.  There is not a lot of elbowroom.  Babies and toddlers who might cry in the middle of the night could create considerable grumbling from others trying to get some sleep.  Please, if you have little ones along, consider getting motel rooms each night instead.

We have had riders with personal support vehicles bring dogs on the Tour.  Keep in mind that many of our overnight locations lack much shade and temperatures can be high. Dogs must be on leash at some locations. Bringing a furry friend along may not be a good option, and that is especially true for any pets that aren’t quiet at night.  Please keep in mind that our overnight locations are very busy.  We have had pets along that were noisy at night and that created problems for all those nearby trying to sleep.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I get a massage during the Tour?” el_id=”1482962370870-57cdcd5b-7381″]

Massage Available

Kathy Milks will be joining us again to help ease your aches and pains.  Because it is a solo operation this year, Kathy recommends signing up ahead of time. Contact Kathy at: dynamicendeavors@hotmail.com or text 307-399-5476.  Sign-up sheets will be started by mid-June.  It is $20 for a 15 minute massage and $40 for a half hour. Cell Phones

What to Carry Each Day

Be prepared to carry what you need each day.  While there are rest stops to provide food and drink, carry other necessities.  Include what you would need to change a flat tire.   If you wear a jacket to start the day, have a means to carry it with you if you take it off.  Having a seat bag, handlebar bag, or back rear bag is one way to go.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I ship my bike ahead of time and have it sent back at the end of the Tour?” el_id=”1482962565533-a494e7fe-0b79″]

Types of Bikes on the Tour

The majority of riders on the Tour de Wyoming use road bikes with drop handlebars and skinny tires or gravel-type bikes with a wider tire. The range of gears is up to the individual but a triple or compact double is recommended. Mountain bikes with “slick” tires are another option.  E-bikes that are pedal-assist only are allowed for those who have a need due to age or other medical condition.

Non-Riders

There is no entry fee for non-riders.  However, all personal support vehicles must have the TdW parking pass ($50) displayed – purchased by the rider you are accompanying on the ride.
Non-riders may get a meal plan by having their rider order an extra plan.

Luggage Weight Limits

Each rider has a luggage limit of 50 pounds for one bag, or if you opt to bring two, then neither can be over 40 pounds. We WILL weigh questionable bags on the first morning. No bags over the limit will be accepted.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Are there special provisions for those opting to stay in motels?” el_id=”1485566127164-d5a1c548-a396″]Any motel reservations must be made by the individual. It is your responsibility to get to and from your motel. One option is to bring a small rucksack and carry what you need for an overnight stay and bike to your motel.
