Touring the Wind River Basin and a short jaunt into the Wind River Mountains

Route for 2025 Tour de Wyoming

The 2025 Tour de Wyoming gathers in Riverton, Wyoming on July 12. We meet at the Riverton Middle School.

Day 1, July 13 (Sunday),  61 miles –We spend the day pedaling through the Wind River Indian Reservation. We pass by and around Ocean Lake before returning to Riverton for a second night.

Day 2, July 14 (Monday), 80 miles – We take off to pedal where Conestoga wagons once traveled. We climb Beaver Rim and pass by Sweetwater Station before descending the rim to head into Lander. We set up camp at the Lander City Park.

Day 3July 15 (Tuesday), 46 miles – We head into Sinks Canyon and scale the canyon via the 11 switchbacks to the summit and end of the pavement. Then we turn around, enjoy the dash back down the canyon, and then take off on the Squaw Creek and Baldwin Creek roads.

Day 4, July 16 (Wednesday), 75 miles.  We leave Lander and head to Dubois, spending much of the distance paralleling the Wind River. Rock outcrops rise above the river, as we pedal down below. We set up camp at the Wind River KOA.

Day 5, July 17 (Thursday), 60 miles – This day we head into the Wind River Mountains to top out at the Continental Divide just after Togwotee Pass at an elevation 9,584 feet. A wildfire hit this area in fall 2024. There’s a mix of burned areas and untouched forest. At the pass we turn around and return to Dubois for a second night at the KOA.

Day 6, July 18 (Friday), 77 miles – This day we cruise back to Riverton. We retrace our route from Day 4 until reaching the turnoff to Riverton.
